Rose festival begins at Islamabad Club Islamabad (April 16, 2011): Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi said that special floral arrangements are being made at entry and exit points of the federal capital so that the people visiting the city could have the pleasant impression about unique landscaping and green character of Islamabad.
He stated this while talking to media men while inaugurating Spring Rose Festival — 2011 at Islamabad Club on Saturday. The colourful festivity was organised by the Pakistan National Rose Society (PNRS) in collaboration with CDA. CDA chairman said that the active participation of the competitors in the Rose Festival speaks volume of interest of the people in beauty, fragrance and colours of the spring displayed in the natural environment of Islamabad. He said that Islamabad has abundance of different varieties of roses cultivated along the avenues, in the parks and houses to make the city more colourful in the foothills of the Margalla Hills inhabited with rich fauna and flora. He said that CDA is introducing new varieties of roses in the parks and also supporting the residents in promoting the new species of flowers. He said that CDA would also evolve mechanism for training and gardening to help promote floriculture. CDA chairman also lauded the efforts of different organisations and departments participating in the Rose Festival. He said that CDA would extend all possible support for promoting the floriculture and conserving the environment.
