Prime Minister has directed the CDA to build a $12 Billion dream project which will connect the current capital to a twin capital across the famous Margalla Hills. A tunnel will connect them both. It is a copied idea taken from Shaikh Zayed Avenue in Dubai. A new airport will also be constructed at Rawat and two ring roads between Rawalpindi and Islamabad will also be a part of this project. Prime Minister will announce this project himself very soon.
CDA is currently working on acquiring 25,000 acres of land for this project for two zones that are part of this very mega project. One is “Economic Zone” and the second one is “Multipurpose Zone”.
According to sources the salient features of this project are to build a new Islamabad and connect it with the old Islamabad. Islamabad Highway that starts from Blue Area will be widened to either 8 lanes or 10 lanes and this highway will travel up to Rawat. Commercial multi-story buildings will surround the highway on both sides and it will also be connected to Lahore-Islamabad Motorway.
Government is expected to profit billions of dollars by providing the commercial plots on both sides of the highway and in addition the businesses established in these buildings are also expected to earn billions of dollars. Overseas Pakistanis are invited to invest in this mega project.
CDA board has recently okayed a limited company i.e. Pakistan Avenue Development Company to complete this project. Collector of District Rawalpindi is authorised by the Punjab Government through a notification on August 15th, 2013 to carry out the survey of the land and take necessary steps involved in acquiring the land for the above mentioned project.
