Once again Pakistani bowler showed the magic and left English heads spinning as they completed a stunning 72-run victory in the second Test at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Chasing a victory target of 145, England team slumped to 72 all out, their lowest score in Tests against Pakistan. The 72-run win gave Pakistan the series with one Test left to play in Dubai. It was the first series loss for England, the world No.1 Test team, since their defeat to West Indies in 2009.
England were rocked by left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman, who picked six wickets to overshadow his opposite number Monty Panesar, who too had six wickets. Off-spinner Saeed Ajmal took three, while Hafeez picked one as England fell like a pack of cards.
Earlier, Pakistan, resuming on 125 for four, effectively 55 for four, made 214 in their second dig. England’s Monty Panesar, in his comeback Test, took his ninth five-wicket haul and his second against Pakistan. The left-arm spinner, who had three wickets on Friday, added three more to restrict Pakistan. Panesar had figures of 38.2-18-62-6.
