“President Asif Ali Zardari should focus on issues being faced by the country, take useful actions for the rain-cum-flood victims, while all parties must work on the problems of the nation and prepare a national agenda to strengthen the country,” Nawaz added.

He said due to the nationalisation of national organisations, the country’s economy was ruined. He said the worst day in the history of the country was when Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was advised to nationalise the country’s institutions. “If the PPP founder had not done so, Pakistan would have been a financially strong country. It was Dr Mubashir Hassan who is responsible for the economic decline of the country because he advised ZA Bhutto to nationalise the country’s institutions,” the former premier added.
Nawaz said despite the forecast of the Met office, there were no proper arrangements to avert natural disaster. He said he had urged the government to grant Rs100,000 each to victims, but the government had announced Rs25,000. “This is Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan, but Quaid’s dreams have not come true. The current situation must be hurting Quaid’s soul,” he said.
He refused to comment on the recent video press conference by MQM chief Altaf Hussain. “Hundreds have lost their lives due to the poor law and order situation in Karachi but a drama is being staged there,” the former premier added.
