Jubilee Insurance 29th Asian Snooker Championship is commencing in Karachi from April 27 with the final to be staged on May 3. Overall 38 cueists drawn in eight groups representing more than 14 countries and regions include hosts Pakistan, China, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Iran, Iraq, Mongolia, the Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, SouthKorea, Sri Lanka, Syria, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the defending championThailand.
A total of 16 teams were originally scheduled to take part in the mega event but Indiapulled out on Thursday as the players failed to get their government’s clearance in time. This is the fourth time for Pakistan to stage the Asian major competition after holding itin 1991 for the first time.
