The sports wing of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has requested the Pakistan Cricket Board to release national players from the camp for its cricket league. In a letter addressed to PCB chairman Najam Sethi after PTV Sports published a story about the league’s possible clash of schedule with the national training camp, the PTI asked for consideration from the board.
The PCB’s decision of holding a training camp from May 6 might hit the plan of Imran Khan’s league as various cricketers like Misbah-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Shahid Afridi and many others would not be available for the league due to the camp. The PTI said the league was to be held from May 3 to 18 but it would now be held from May 18 to June 8.
To organise the league successfully, the wing said, it would need Karachi’s National Stadium, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, Rawalpindi Stadium and Peshawar’s Arbab Niaz Stadium besides renowned cricketers. The wing has also renamed the competition as Love 20 League. DAWN
