Pakistan’s domestic T20 champions Sialkot Stallions are all set to kick-start their Champions League T20 campaign by taking on Auckland Aces, in a Pool 1 qualifying match, at Johannesburg today, October 9, 2012.

This is the first time that any Pakistan team is taking part in the esteemed T20 league that showcases domestic champions from around the world. Former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik is leading the Sialkot Stallions unit, which also features the likes of hard-hitting opening batsman Imran Nazir and rookie left-arm spinner Raza Hasan, who proved his prowess in the recently concluded T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka.

The Stallions have been pooled with New Zealand’s Auckland Aces and English county Hampshire in the qualifying stage of the CLT20, which will run from October 9 to 11 in South Africa. The main tournament will kick start from October 13. Top team from each pool will qualify for the main tournament. If qualified, Stallions will get a place in Group B, alongside Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Sydney Sixers and Highveld Lions.

Sialkot Region President Zulfiqar Malik is confident Shoaib Malik led Sialkot Stallions will live up to the hopes of fans in the latest edition of Champions League T20, commencing today in Johannesburg.
