Pakistan’s Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) has been launched earlier this year. It will be functional by June 2013. The satellite is being supervised by Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) and has been collaborated by China’s team of scientists and engineers.
The GNSS will orbit the earth and will provide geo-spatial positioning service. It will help in surveillance, mapping, surveying of mineral deposits, agriculture, construction, deformation monitoring, transport, aviation management, mining, computerized land management, administration, plate-tectonics studies and weather predictions.
