it would have been much better if the processor of this tab had been at least 1GHZ.
Presently its processor is only 400MHZ which, on such a smart tab is insufficent.
I would like to have it with the desired processor.But despite all, its been a great effort by PTCL which needs to be fully admired.

Yar ptcl ki achi koshish hai per rates kafi high hain. Tablet without contract honi chahiye thi.
I am using it for past 3 days. Its built in internet by evo services speed is excellent…wifi works fine and so does my warid sim. Compared to ipad or bb play book this is a lot user friendly cause u have internet on the go!

I have bought it yesterday and I have found it very perfect piece of gadget. Can any body please tell me about its charging as my device takes to much time to get charged. One other thing, did anybody use its internet on PC through Tethering services. I have configured it and connected PC with it every thing was coming up fine but internet couldn’t work on PC. All the users of this tab would please stay in contact for other things to share.

This device is completely useless. I bought it. it costs me 32K. I cannot do browsing on my PC using tethering. Tried to watch movie on it and it hanged forever. No way to hard reboot or remove battery. No help from help line. They say they do not have training for trouble shooting evo tab. Complete shit.

I am really interested to buy PTCL EvoTab but after reading all above experiences I was initially got confused like you.
But still I want to buy this tablet as it has a Mobile SIM, up to 3MB internet, Video / Voice conferencing Skype, GTalk, facebook etc.
In conclusion I believe we should must experience this & if anyone says that he has used and experienced it unfavorable then must demonstrate its video as a proof as I have not seen any video on youtube or else where.
Guys if any above has already purchased it and experiencing some serious issues as quoted above then I appreciate if you could make a video and put it on youtube.
Else it is worthless to abuse PTCL EvoTab.

Does it support android live wallpapers???
Check the ptcl website .. the ptcl evo tab has a relatively slow 800MHz processor (slower than the HTC Desire) and the memory is only 512MB .. which means you will have serious issues installing apps on this device (unless you can root/hack it).
The ptcl faqs say you cannot install flash (probably because of the low memory issues for app installation ?). This means you can not use it non-restricted for flash content in most browsers – they recommend the skyfire browser for flash stuff.
You will not be able to do skype video calls (though audio works they say). This is because you need android 2.3.3 or more for skype video – and this is only an android 2.2 device.
The ptcl faq says you can only use the GSM (i.e. as a phone) when you are NOT using the EVDO part. And you can only browse internet over wifi (like normal android phone) if you want to do voice calls over GSM i.e. as a mobile phone.
I am not sure how easy this will make use of this device as a mobile phone (esp. if it’s mobile phone function is turned off while you are using it’s EVDO functionality).
Bottom line:
Even the 800MHz speed would be ok, but the 512MB memory choice is going to be restrictive – meaning you will not be able to install more than a few small apps on the phone (which destroys the whole value of android – market etc.).
It is android 2.2 – and unless they provide an update it may be difficult to move to android 2.3.x etc. (or a rooting guide for these devices appears – I am not sure if the general rooting/upgrading guides will work for this particular device – and guides may only appear after there is a sufficient user base for this device).
In addition the advertising that this also allows use as a mobile phone is misleading as that is only possible if you are not using EVDO. Not clear how cumbersome it is to switch back and forth (or if you will miss phone calls or notifications while you are using the device’s EVDO internet connection).
However if you just do simple browsing and reading of text, maybe this device will be ok.

I am now using EVO tab for last 1 week, it is a good choice with worthy price if you buy it with full package i.e 32000 PKR. Browsing experience is really good but to get more out of it (HD games etc) rooting seems essential. I have not gone for rooting so far, will update if I do so.
It can work as general TAB after the contract. This is the only device with working 3g broadband known to me in Pakistan.
No hang issue so far, I have applied update via ptcl website immediately after purchase. I have used it for tethering/hot spot and works very well. Device remains in my car outside office to get full 3g signal and i can use net on my laptop inside by tethering.

dear users, your many problems related to EVO tab will be resolved like tethering & hotspot issue will be resolved if you install the Android OS update available on ptcl site.

Evo Tab has the same gateway for CDMA& GSM networks thats why you cannot use mobile sims at the same time while using internet.
* although Ram is not enough for some applications but for you people information, Evo Tab has 4 processors inside separately designed for browsing, graphics, main processing & multimedia. I will give the details if anyone of you require.
* for those who say device is costly.
