Mansehra (June 8, 2011) – A three day Kaghan Tourism Festival (Mela) will be held at Naran from 24 to 26 June, 2011. It would be a rare, unique and national level event to be held in scenically beautiful Kaghan valley, it will be a regular feature every year.
This was revealed by the Provincial Ministers for tourism Syed Aqil Shah and Provincial Minister for Industries Syed Ahmad Hussain Shah while presiding over a meeting of Mansehra district administration and all stakeholders at Mansehra followed by addressing joint press conference.
The Ministers were of the view that provincial government was endeavoring hard to promote Tourism in the province, so as to improve the economic condition of the people on one hand and to give the message of peace to the world at large on the other. While giving The detail of festival the Minister for tourism Syed Aqil Shah said about two lakhs people expected to participate in the festival. He said 70 percent activities to be presented in the “Mela” will depict the local culture of Hazara region while rest would be included from Over the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Shah informed that all major “Sport” and folk Programmes would be given due representation in this national importance festival. Syed Aqil Shah said that after 30th June 2011 tourism department will be handed over to our Province. However he categorically stated that without PTDC we will not except the shifting of the department. He said successful holding of this “Mela” is core responsibility of the all stake-holders including district administration Mansehra, Police, NHA, WAPDA and press therefore he added they should make coordinated efforts for the success of this “Mela” He said a three member organizing committee headed by the DCO Mansehra has been formed to lookafter all the arrangements. He said Director Tourism has been assigned the duties to personally visit the Kaghan Valley and prepare a comprehensive report in this regard. While responding to a query the Minister for tourism informed that Hotel Industry of the Kaghan valley has been relaxed from “ bed tax” for coming two years.
