Lahore Fort locally known as Shahi Qila is the best tourist attraction in the city of Lahore Pakistan. Lahore Fort was built during reign of Mughal emperor Akbar in 1556–1605. The fort manifests the rich traditions of Mughal architecture. Some of the famous sites inside the fort include: Sheesh Mahal, Alamgiri Gate, Naulakha pavilion, and Moti Masjid. In 1981, the fort was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the Shalimar Gardens Lahore.
The Lahore Fort is the part of the Walled City of Lahore also known as the Old City or Anderoon Shehr, is the section of Lahore, that was fortified by a city wall during the Mughal era. Walled City of Lahore had 13 gates: Akbari Gate, Bhati Gate, Delhi Gate, Kashmiri Gate, Lohari Gate, Masti Gate, Mochi Gate, Mori Gate, Roshnai Gate, Shahalmi Gate, Shairanwala Gate, Taxali Gate, and Yakki Gate.
